Afika is a beautiful large size Bucephalandra. The leaves of this subtype can become dark green with a purple/bluish hue. The hue intensity depends on the quality of the lighting.
The leaves of the plant get a stronger oval and less wavy shaped when grown submerged, with a strongly defined midrib.
It’s probably one of the largest/longest Bucephalandra species easily reaching up to 20 cm from rhizome to leaf end.
Bucephalandra Afika is a nice species for beginners at keeping Bucephalandra. It’s not highly demanding, and it is a relatively fast grower in the species. As with all Bucephalandra species, Co2 injection is not required, but will help increase the growing speed.
