Red Blade is a beautiful medium size Bucephalandra with a grey/reddish glow underwater. The hue intensity depends on the quality of the lighting. In it’s emerse form the leaves can be anything from grey green to an intense dark green. Underwater, it has the ability to grow a light red leaf type amongst the normal greenish colours variations. Those red leaves have a silver glow over them in certain lighting conditions.
The leaves of the plant get a stronger oval shape when grown submerged, with a strongly defined midrib. Most new leaves in the submerge stage will lose their wave.
Bucephalandra Red Blade is a great species for beginners at keeping Bucephalandra. It’s not highly demanding, and it is not the slowest grower of the species. As with all Bucephalandra species, Co2 injection is not required, but will help increase the growing speed.
Never put the rhizome in or under the soil, because it can make the plant rot. Instead, you can attach the plant to a rock or wood by using fishing line, moss cotton or aquarium superglue.
